Kaniza effect

This image actually shows three red dots on a white background set out at the apexes of an equal-sided (equilateral) triangle. However, the dots are not circular. Each has a 60 degree segment missing. These missing segments all face inwards towards the midway point between the two opposite red dots. This gives the false impression that one is looking at a white triangle resting on and overlapping three circles, so the triangle is partially obscuring a segment of each red circle at the triangle’s corners. However, this triangle has no visible sides and therefore, by definition, does not exist.
