HealthyEyes – your sight is precious to us
![]() |
Everybody knows that it’s really important to go to the dentist’s regularly. After all, if you didn’t your teeth might go bad and fall out! But a lot of people don’t know that it’s just as important to go for regular eye tests. Sometimes people have an eye problem but don’t know it, because the problem’s grown so slowly that they’ve just got used to how their eyes are.
When you go for a test, the eye doctor, or optician, will usually ask you to read letters of the alphabet from a card and will look into your eyes with some special equipment. He or she will also ask you lots of questions about what you can see. The questions are easy, though, so there’s no need to worry. If this little kid can do it, so can you!
Eye tests don’t usually take up much time and - you’ll be pleased to know - they don’t hurt a bit! What’s more, you don’t even have to pay for eye tests for children - they’re absolutely free!
Have you ever been for an eye test? If you can’t remember, ask at home if you’ve been for one and how long ago it was. On the whole, people should have an eye test every two years. If you’ve never had one, it may well be time you went for one!
